A great day in Porto, the second largest city in Portugal and the home of port wine. The city is vibrant with people from all over Europe coming to sample the wine. The place was jumping today! First stop was to Livraria Lello, an incredible bookshop. You have to buy tickets to go in. I bought ours online for entry at 11am. The queue was already very long, as was the queue for the 11.30am entry. The photos tell the story.
From there we made our way down towards the river stopping in at another Sardine shop where we tried canned roasted octopus, a candy shop, and a Netflix clothing store. There were buskers everywhere. A many using fruit as musical instruments, and a lady with an eagle.
For a short time Jay became a magician's assistant.
Once down at the river we treated ourselves to a very nice lunch before crossing the bridge to take a cable car ride to the top of the big double decker bridge. From there we took the metro to a seven story shopping centre, before heading back to the hostel for an afternoon of drawing lessons from Jay. No Camino today, but we still.managed to walk 10kms. It was a fun day.
I am thoroughly enjoying your posts Cynthia - such an amazing hikoi this time - by reading your reflections it sounds more relaxed and enjoyable especially with Jay. Keep smiling and posting - loving alllllllllll the photos!
