Mixed Reviews

Our accommodation in Alvaiazere had mixed reviews. Jay's bed was very hard, too short, with the result they got very little sleep. On the other hand the food was great. For E13 we had soup, a choice of pork or fish with potatoes and salad, dessert and drinks - a jug of red wine for Edwina and me, and orange for Jay. The fish was superb. Breakfast was also very generous for E3. A lack of sleep does not make for an easy day walking. So we walked halfway to Anceio where we found a terrific cafe. Then got a cab to our hostel. Our walk was hilly, lots of downhill on loose gravel etc, but also through lovely forests, along country lanes and through old villages. One village looked completely abandoned except for one house. Overall it was quite a pleasant 13kms. The place we are staying is really charming. A stone casa complete with old fashioned furniture, lovely gardens and a swimming pool. A little too cold for a swim. I've just been sitting out in the sun reading. We are about to go down the lane to the local cafe for dinner. The chef is the owner of the casa. We caught up with Ari from the Netherlands, and the two American women in Ancieo. There is a casa dog called Bluger, Jay has renamed him Whiskey. He looks like a whiskey dog.
