Pontevedra

A beautiful walk today despite half of it being uphill. We walked through lush bush tracks, alongside a stream that was showing the effects of the heavy overnight rain. When we left this morning the hills were blanketed in low cloud. Once the rain stopped and the cloud cleared it turned into a perfect day for walking. Checking into our hotel in Pontevedera was interesting. We arrived just after 1pm and were told check in started at 2pm. The receptionists then kept a note of who arrived when and on the dot of 2pm the order of check in was announced, in strict order of arrival. A little bit Fawlty Towerish! After a rest we walked to the church of the Virgin of the Pilgrim. An architectural gem, in the shape of a scallop shell. Jay walked up into the cloister and explored the museum. I wasn't game as my ankle had been causing problems all day and I didn't want to risk putting any extra pressure on it by climbing the many stairs. One of the difficulties on the Camino is finding meals at a reasonable hour. Here most places didn't open until 8pm. A little late when you have to be up early. The photos start with leaving Puente Sampaio, take us through the forest to a cafe, then into Pontevedra and the church.
